After some revision, I have decided to extract the main idea and manipulate it with some more detailing and information. First of all, we are slowly rising as a respectable faction; our name is being spoken by many in the game and on forums. We are doing a great job getting ourselves out there, and now I would like to propose a new idea to reflect our faction as a whole. I have many ideas that will be put into separate threads in the future, but for now I would like to open up the idea of faction ranking and giving it true purpose. I would like to stress that this does not separate members from each other; instead it is meant to add a sense of order to the faction and include a /RPG/ element to it. Also keep in mind that we are a small faction full of great players, so giving and detailing these ranks does not make any difference since we all work together as part of a team. I only made this as a proposed idea.
Now, back to the topic, I would like to share my views and ideas for faction ranking. There are many ways that this faction can go and I can only provide so many. One of my main ideas is that we are like an inquisition, an order, against the tyranny out there in the wasteland. Our name, The Peacekeepers, supports this idea and as such we can look at this faction similar to the religious orders dated throughout history, for example the Holy Inquisition in 12th Century France, who also combated heresy. In another light we can introduce the orders and ranks from the Imperial Guard faction in the fictional universe of Warhammer 40k. This also opens up the possibility of merging the fictional and realistic together. Heresy, in the context of Fonline, is simply player killers, most notably the Khans, who disrupt the server for the old members, and to a great extent ruin the gameplay for first time players. We can follow in the footsteps of said orders and structure our ranking to match this overall theme. This can potentially be our /RPG/ aspect to the faction, much like how *spits* Khans *spits* are seen to be a "Raider" faction.
Now, after some revising, I have remade and detailed the many different ranks that can be included within this "religious" context:
Recruits - Acolytes/Acolytes of Peace/Followers of Peace
These are the "fresh" members who have recently joined the faction and have started to devote themselves to the primary cause of keeping peace across the wasteland. Typically real world acolytes have to prove that they want to belong in what they choose to believe in; this can link to the current recruitment process of gathering resources for entering, but a revising of the entire recruitment process can be done if needs be to fit in with this context.
Trusted - Harbinger of Peace/Knight/?
This is the rank above an Acolyte. Those who have qualified and showed enough devotion to the greater cause will essentially move up the ladder to this rank. Realistically I would propose that this be the middle ground for all members to achieve, and that this is a worthy rank to reflect true devotion to this faction. Of course a great amount of work and effort will be needed to get up to this rank; how this is to be done I am unsure, but as I said this topic is open to discussion.
Member - Inquisitor
This will be the highest rank that can be achieved by an Acolyte and can only be got through an even higher amount of work and effort. It is a rank to show that the individual has battled against heresy many times and is fully devoted to the greater good; the removal of heresy and disorder in the wasteland. Maybe we can introduce a badging system/achievement system to the forum to show this?
Officer - Inquisitorial Representative/Arch Priest/?
Second to command, the right hands of the leader himself. Sustains the sense of order, regulates and reinforces the great cause and keeps a tight command over the lower ranks. This would range from sorting out rabble, arranging important events with the leader, etc. This can only be achieved through Leader's decision, but an exception maybe possible? An ultimate dedication for example (meaning a lot of Khan/PK kills or something?)
Leader - Primarch/?
The destined one who leads us against the all heresy, wickedness and madness. There can only be one, and the only way for this to be achieved would be extremely rare. If it does happen then an idea could be made at that time, but such a placement should be restricted so only those of Officer rank can have a chance of leading, with lower ranks having their say but not being able to take the role of leadership.
There are many ideas left over that are open to discuss, for example names for the ranks, process of recruitment and even this post overall. Again I do stress that this is simply an idea that I have thought of for a good amount of time during my stay in the faction, now that we are getting noticed more and more it is about time to have this discussion out there.
