Yeah you got that right: Miner Builds. Because mining can be PvP too. For those who want to mine serious quantities of materials for mass-crafting fresh quality gear, yet be able to fight back and win when attacked, even by two players at a time. Don't use a weakling worker who has to run away at first sign of trouble.
Both of these miners use a Super Sledge in one hand, and a Mega Power Fist in the other. Sledge for work (and NPCs), but switch to MPF to fight players. To mine (and punch) faster, all gear should be +1 AP. Both of these use ST 10 combined with Heavy Handed and MPF for almost always a successful knockdown.
Perks for Both: A-Rush, Toughness, Even Tougher, A-Boy, A-Boy, Bonus HtH Attacks, 2xLG.
Tags for Both: Close Combat 180, First Aid, Outdoorsman (or whatever you prefer)
HQ Miner
7.1.10.1.1.10.9, Heavy Handed + Bonehead
Drugs: Buffout/cola, Psycho, beer
Armor: Combat Armor or better
This guy cannot afford the DR loss from Jet, so he won't work quite as fast as his LQ cousin, but tougher since the HQ mines are where most anti-miner PKs go. Let enemy spend AP, then chase him down. Two of them? Chase them both down.
LQ Miner
9.1.10.1.1.10.7, Heavy Handed + Bonehead
Drugs: Jet, Buffout/cola, Psycho, beer
Armor: Whatever you prefer (Leather 2, Robe, CA)
If you use Jet, +1 AP armor, and +1 AP Super Sledge, this guy mines with 16 AP! Pretty much nobody else in the quarry will be able to keep up. You get over 1000 nuggets on 1 round of drugs (30 minutes). Even if you hate mining in this game, it's pretty nice to get 500+ metal parts from half an hour of work.
Caution: Make sure MPF is fully charged, and bring maybe 50 SEC with you in case of a longer fight. Only use it to fight players. That way it's ready with full charge and in good condition when a PvP fight starts. Use Super Sledge to kill aliens or geckos or whatever NPC you have there. Carrying a few Superstims is a good idea anywhere, and most anti-miner PKs will be surprised if you use them. When attacked, use corners to disappear, giving enemy the impression you are running. Rather, it draws them closer, and that's what you need to hit them with MPF. If it's two enemies, you need them both to be very close to you. You can be busy knocking one down while his buddy thinks he will 1-hex you. If you do it right, you can let him get very close and knock him down too. Then it's a matter of alternating targets, knocking them both down back and forth. That's where your 3 speed perks really help (2 A-Boy + Bonus HtH Attacks).
