Ares Rocket Silo is a military outpost guarded by muties, far far at north, in sector 39:8. Going there alone is suicide, but a squad of 4-5 players can make it smooth, if skilled and good geared.
1. Loot
- At 4th floor there is special locker may contain stated armor or stated weapons of Tier4 (CA MkII with stats, Enclave, Brotherhood)!
- At ground level, there are lockers with misc items, weapons and ammo - those are in tents and near crashed vertibird.
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor contains lockers which may hold T3 class armor with great stats!
- Each level below ground has plenty of lockers with various loot: lots of granades, ammo, medicals...
2. Preparing
Fight will be rough, if you like it or no, and muties are very hard enemies. Good thing is, they don't run!
- Take DRUGS, all of them: for underground take beer if you have perc 7+
- Get SuperStimpakcs - 30 is a minimum (50 is recommanded)
- Take Expended Lockpicks Sets (2-3) and be sure to have a character with 150 Lockpick!
- Get tons of ammo!
- 2 weapons with long range.
- At level 3 and 4 muties have big ressist for energy weapons (Laser desont' work). If possible, use M60 and Avenger.
- Its highly reqires to have character with 80+ Repair and/or Science, because there are Forcfields that need to be disabled. Those forcefields are refreshing each 30 minutes.
3. Tactics.
a) Ground level
Ground level holds around 30 mutants, most of them carrying avengers and boozars, but some wields power fists and flamers, thats why most important is kill order:
Kill order is: Boozar --> Avenger -->> Rocket Luncher ---> Rest
There are 5 points that will make things much easier if doing in this order.
Point 1: Gather location. You enter Ares and start here.
Point 2: Fight starter area - shoot from range muties and go ASAP to walls to hex incoming enemies. After clearing this section, proceed to another point.
Point 3: This area is to prepare to enter tents, where you will meet hordes of muties. If possible, do not open fire at this point.
Point 4: Rush to tents - 2 members to each tent. One player takes position in corner, second is by the entrance. Hexing is a MUST in here, and while door player regains AP, other takes his position.
Point 5: Range shooting to attract muties, then go to tents. Or back to Walls section.
b) Inside ARES
There are 4 levels underground. This is a rough ride from the start. Again, speed is the key, but now it's time for different tactics:
Level 1:
You enter this level using rope from ground zone. Once you enter, you meet Mutant with Avenger Minigun. Hex him asap. Your team should take positions under the walls and shoot approaching mutants (around 8). Kill enemies and disable force field using Repair Skill on forcefield generator. Then you enter room with Elevator - be aware, there are 3 mutants and one uses rocket luncher!
Level 2:
Now you jump right into the action - 3 mutants will greet you here with rockets and flames, and shower of lead. Once room is cleared, go to the hole on the left side and use rope to enter next level.
Level 3:
Here things are geting realy nasty (like they weren't before...). And this is mean, because you will be attacked by 14 mutants armed with YK32 pulse pistols and Avenger Minigun. Good thing is, if you have 4 players, 2 of them can try reach room oposite to entrance and hex whatever will come.
Next rooms located south of entrance have also muties - around 10 of them. They can attack when see you, so be carefull.
Once you cleared corridors, you will go to elevator room to reach level 4th - and there is a little BIG supprise - a Super Master Mutant, with lots of AP and 760HP will wait you there. Along with heavy armament and health, he has some serious DT/DR, and even hexing him is a problem. I advise you to shoot him from distance as long as possible and take cover after first shot. Also, rocket luncher would be best to knock this fatass down.
Best tactics is that your tank in team have spare Tesla Armor, because 2nd boss uses Gatling Laser and shoot this nasty mutant from distance while Tank absorbs his fire.
3rd level boss may use Gatling Laser (Tesla is best to tank him) or Avenger - he has 760HP but its advised to lure him near pararell corridors in middle of level.
If you kill him, you can proceed to next level...
Level 4:
This is last level. You can see magic chest in big room. And 4 mutants mutant guarding elevator. Seems pretty easy. But it's not! After killing those, you reach corridor with T road. This is where around 12 mutants will come shortly, and you better split your team into two corridors so hostile force will not zerg you at same time.
Best tactics is to use Tank to lure mutants to zone, and whole team waits in elevator room, shooting approaching muties from this position.
And the ultra boss with 1170 HP and Vindicator Minigun...

TIPS:
- If you go with 4 or more, you can take turns in shooting: 2 starts fight, then if in need of healing up, they will stay behind and other players will take their positions
- Below ground levels 1 and 2 are easier because more cover and hexing possibilites: 2-3 players is enough to cover each entrance with suppresing fire. Just be sure that only 1 player is at doors and other waits for him to back in order to regain AP/heal up.
- Don't try fight muties from distance, they will easli win by numbers, and avengers are very dangerous, same as boozars
- If you die on ground level its quite easy to get your stuff back.
- Muties respawn each 30 minutes, so time is the key: ground level should be done in less then 10 minutes, and each floor should be rushed, so you won't be forced to fight on the way back. However, seems like 3rd lvl boss and 4th lvl boss has resp time around 60 minutes.
- Wear Tesla Helmet to protect headshots / eye shots from Laser Snipers and Combat Armor (best is with additional DR and DT)
- If you build base near Hospital and Ares, leave 1 or 2 cars that can have 4+ passangers to speed up return proces in case of death. This way, if you get killed, you can get within 90 seconds to Ares.
- If you have Carry Weight get additional chestpiece armor, because lots of damage you will take may deteriorate one you are wearing.
- Gatling Laser is good weapon for ground level and 1st and 2nd floor - mutants at 3rd floor and below got heavy armor against laser.
- Boss at 3rd level uses Gatling Laser - it's wise to have Tesla Armor just to tank him easy.
- If you clear 4th floor and kill main Boss, you can stay there 59 minutes until he will respawn. Untill that time, you are safe. In order to evacuate your team use secret exit near barrels. This exit will throw you on World Map, Ares location.
